An Elderberry tree is fast growing with very light wood growing to 4-5m tall. This cultivar has richly coloured burgundy black foliage, and ladened with pinky white flower clusters (elderflower) that turn into black berries (elderberries). When happy, it will tend to form many trunks. Both the flowers and the berries are used to make a variety of cordials, wines, relishes, jams, teas and medicines.
This is a specially selected form of the common elderberry, interesting because of its dark red almost black leaf, but otherwise its much the same as the common elderberry.
