Magnus Summer Surprise Semi-Dwarfing - Woodbridge Fruit Trees

Magnus Summer Surprise Semi-Dwarfing

The fruit are quite attractive - bright red  and medium in size, but that is the red flesh and white core are quite remarkable when bitten into. The flavour is sweet and the tree crops heavily. Like its parent, the Huonville Crab, it has purple/ green leaves and stem. Quite remarkable.

This apple is the result of my fathers' efforts into apple breeding. After planting hundreds of seeds left-over from pressing and juicing Huonville Crab apples, he grafted what grew onto some roostocks to make them bear earlier. The result was quite mixed and mostly unexciting, except for this one. Larger than its parent, the Summer surprise retains the pink flesh apart from some white around the core. The flavour has even less crab apple than its parent, the Huonville crab and is sweeter. Makes pink juice and pink cider!
